ABOUT HUGHES SUFFREN
Teacher. Learner. Storyteller.
A Catalyst for Change.
Hughes Suffren writes speculative fiction that explores what happens when extraordinary ideas collide with deeply human questions. Blending Afrofuturism, political suspense, and character-driven storytelling, his work examines truth, power, justice, family, and the choices that shape both individuals and nations. He believes the best "what if" questions reveal truths about the world we live in today.
For more than twenty years, Hughes Suffren dedicated his career to helping students and organizations reach their highest potential through leadership, education, and personal development. Those experiences continue to inform his fiction, where systems are tested, ordinary people face extraordinary decisions, and the greatest conflicts are often moral rather than physical.
Hughes Suffren is the founder of Hughes Suffren Enterprises, an Atlanta-based health and wellness company. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and English and a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Iowa State University, along with an Executive Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University.
His debut novel, Fear of a Black Planet, is an Afrofuturist political thriller that imagines a world where truth can no longer be avoided, forcing individuals and institutions alike to confront the consequences of what they have long chosen not to see.
Whether speaking, mentoring, or writing, Hughes Suffren is driven by the same belief: the right question has the power to change how we see ourselves—and the world around us.
“each of us has the power to create our world”
